Since their humble start in 2010 with “Stories From Home,” a collection of songs recorded over the previous four years, Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk have taken the highways by storm with over 600 tour dates throughout North America. Their unique brand of alternative folk/pop and an impressive live show have garnered the attention of listeners and critics alike.

Fronted by songstress Lauren Mann, the band was formed as somewhat of a collective with friends and local musicians that Lauren collaborated with in her early days of playing in the Calgary area. Since those days, Lauren and her band of Fairly Odd Folk have developed a sound and show that is uniquely their own.

Since they began touring, Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk have shared the stage with hundreds of talented bands including: July Talk, Reuben and the Dark, Royal Canoe, The Junction, Balkan Beat Box, The Elwins, Rusted Root, The Matinee, The Cracklin, Jordan Klassen, and Phox. They have also played legendary venues such as the Black Sheep Inn (Wakefield, QC), Webster Hall (New York, NY), and The Drake Hotel (Toronto, ON), and were also the featured musical guests in 2013 at the annual University of Guelph Lecture Series held at the River Run Centre in Guelph, ON.

In the spring of 2013, the band announced the formation of their own label, Wanderer Records, and released their album “Over Land and Sea” on April 9th 2013. “Over Land and Sea” was produced by Aaron Marsh (Copeland, Person L) in Lakeland, FL and illustrates Lauren’s gift of songwriting with a wide array of instrumentation, beautiful harmonies, and lyrics that tell of whimsical adventures.

Through hard work and relentless touring Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk grabbed the attention of CBC and have had features in many local and national programs. Their songs Weight of the World, Over Land and Sea, and I Lost Myself have also gone into regular rotation on CBC Radio 2. In May 2014 they won the CBC Searchlight competition with their song I Lost Myself, competing against over 5000 bands across the country to be called Canada’s best new emerging artist. Additionally, In November 2014, the band placed 2nd in the inaugural Peak Performance Project Alberta winning $75,000 to put towards the recording, release, and promotion of their next album.

2015 will see the band continue to build on their successes up and to this point through recording, touring, and the release of new music
